The core repertoire of the vocal ensemble Cantus Alaudae is Renaissance and early Baroque vocal music. The ensemble performs with 5-12 professional singers, depending on the needs of the current program. The group includes early music singers from the Tampere, Turku, and Helsinki regions. The artistic planning and direction of the ensemble’s programs are the responsibility of early music specialist Debra Gomez-Tapio.

Singer, harpist, and choir director Debra Gomez-Tapio is an American-born early music specialist who enriches the Finnish music scene with her distinctive ensembles, choirs, and extensive repertoire knowledge. Her trademarks are carefully designed, themed concert programs.

Soprano Kaisa Kelloniemi is trained as both a singing and language teacher. She runs a popular private singing school in the center of Tampere and fulfills her love for early music in the Lumous and Passion Ensemble vocal groups. She is also a soloist in numerous oratorio performances and a trusted soprano of the Tampere Opera Choir.

Mezzo-soprano Sanna Kola is a singing teacher and choir director from Turku who always feels at home when she gets to perform early music. She sings medieval music with the Cavalier ensemble and is one half of the Ophelia duo, specializing in Renaissance lute songs. She is also a founding member of the Turku Early Music Society.

Contralto Elina Aho-Kuusama is a singing organizer who has lost her heart to early music. Her rare contralto voice can be heard in the concerts of the Lumous Vocal Ensemble and the Cantus Alaudae Vocal Ensemble, as well as in solo ensembles for various church music projects.

Mats Lillhannus is a tenor from Turku who fell in love with early music already in high school and has since been actively performing music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque. Renaissance polyphonic vocal music is perhaps closest to his heart, particularly Italian madrigal art in recent years.

Baritone Lauri Solin is a singing gardener who performs as a soloist, ensemble singer, and professional choir singer. In early music ensembles, he also plays various lutes.

Pekka Alonen is a bass from Rauma who has worked in recent years in both opera and early music, with a strong passion for Baroque vocal music. He frequently ventures into the world of light music as well.

Keyboard wizard Ilpo Laspas masters the organ, harpsichord, piano, and even rarer keyboard instruments like the Omniwerk.

He enjoys performing both as a soloist and ensemble musician and is a sought-after performer at festivals and concert series both in Finland and abroad.
